Port Authority Internship
2017
Manhattan, New York
As my first professional experience since beginning my architectural education, I spent the summer working with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey at the World Trade Center site. I primarily assisted engineers and architects with building inspections and project meetings. However, because of the immense size of the organization, I was able to receive some insight into a number of projects and systems around the city that I've been using for most of my life. I visited the city's major airports and met with project managers for many of the improvements occurring there. I was involved with train diversion assistance during emergency railroad work occurring that summer and learned about the PATH train network that connects the city to New Jersey.
