Tectonics being a fundamental component of our research, this study serves as a medium to understand and interpret a precedent's primary tectonic strategies, making possible varied deployments of these strategies in new formal arrangements in our own future projects. In this case, I analyzed Ensamble Studio's Hemerescoium House (2008) and distilled the building's tectonics into a series of analytical diagrams that culminated in a three-dimensional construct. Hemerescopium House utilizes a series of oversized, interstate-scale components that interlock in various ways to create a light structure that is compressed at a critical point by a giant granite stone. The wooden model, likewise consists of a series of long components that remain connected and stable as long as the metal weight remains at its critical point. Removing it, will cause the entire structure to collapse instantly.
